Introducing Trinity Together
Jesus famously prayed about his disciples “I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one- I in them and you in me- so that they may be brought to complete unity” (John 17:22-23).
Jesus desire is that church families should be united. That doesn’t mean we should be identical to each other. Rather it means learning to love and cherish each other as we follow Jesus together.
So Duncan and I are really excited about our new Trinity Together evenings. These will happen on the first Tuesday of each month at Trinity Church from 8-9:30pm. Our hope and prayer is that this will be a wonderful expression of unity between our Trinity morning congregation and our new Trinity at Four congregation.
What is Trinity Together? A monthly meeting of both Trinity congregations to share news, pray and sing together. Prayer is always our most vital need as a church family, and it’s a wonderful way to express and foster care for each other. In Trinity Together weeks our regular Trinity at Four homegroup will not meet.
What will the evenings involve?
We will share news, and then spend time either as a larger group, or in smaller groups praying for our needs as a church family, the needs of our community and our world. Not everyone will be comfortable praying our loud- that’s fine- there will be plenty of space for people to pray quietly too. No-one will be put on the spot.
We will sing together, lifting up hearts to God, and singing words of encouragement to each other.
There will be some unstructured time to chat and build relationships with others across the two congregations.
Why should I come along? We appreciate that life is pressured for most of us. However, the best response to pressure, both as individuals and as a church is to come before our all-sufficient God in prayer. Personally speaking, when heading off to a prayer meeting, I often leave the house reluctantly, but return energised and encouraged. I don't think that's just me! The evenings will always finish promptly at 9:30pm, and it will be very easy to leave earlier if you need to.
So can we both encourage you to put the next few dates in your diaries and to come along? We feel sure that you will not regret it, but will leave uplifted inspired and encouraged.
